London Global Art Fair 2015

Olympia Grand Hall, London, UK, 21 - 23 May 2015
Overview
The themes revolving around young and promising Middle Eastern artists are expressed through a variety of means, mediums and subject matters. The 16 artists Art on 56th exhibited enrich their canvases with personal depictions of their experiences and realities in the regions that they cherish. Some also sculpt works inspired by their roots, incorporating elements of their hometowns through materials. Calling upon their origins and surroundings, the artists created oeuvres filled with depth and emotion. They wished to narrate their visions of the conflict they witnessed, and eternalize the fleeting moments that characterized their lives.

By transforming socio-political realms into creative processes, each of these young artists unveiled secrets of their regions and brings to life philosophies of the human nature. Whether some works recast stereotypes or recount a nostalgic history, the artists’ artworks allowed a fresh Middle East to emerge, through either a mastery of chromatic techniques and meticulous reshaping of various materials.

The booth associated with Art on 56th revealed the work of promising young Middle Eastern artists and provide an exposure into the area through the artistic lens. As conflict is used to stimulate the creative process and materials are chosen to immortalize fleeting moments, the works the gallery exhibited are personal glimpses into a lost and changing realm. These artists were empowered to distinctly depict their experiences in each of their works, which results in an all-encompassing show of local talent. While the region is innovatively used as a means of inspiration, sensations were brought to life in a spectrum of the diverse identities, cultures and histories unique to the Middle East.
