Naim Doumit Lebanon, b. 1941

Naim Doumit (b.1941, Mount Lebanon) is one of Lebanon’s leading sculptors. He studied painting and sculpture at the Lebanese Academy of Fine Arts, and obtained a diploma in Sculpture from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, as well as a diploma in Wood Sculpture from the Scuola Arti Ornamentali in Rome in 1965.

Widely recognized for his abstract work and fluid style, Doumit has exhibited in numerous solo and collective exhibitions across Lebanon, Iraq, Jordan, Algeria, Egypt, Greece, France, Italy, Germany, the UK, Turkey, and the USA.

Since 1966, Doumit has served as a professor of sculpture at the National Institute of Fine Arts in Lebanon. He is also the artist behind several monuments across Lebanon and China. Critic Joseph Abou Rizk described his work as timeless and unprecedented, noting the artist’s ability to transform rigid materials such as marble, wood, stone, bronze, and metal into warm and expressive forms marked by simplicity and mystery.
