Rebirth, Renaissance, Revival - concepts that have inspired this upcoming exhibition to celebrate the re-opening of our gallery. Art on 56th, like Beirut, will rise again.
In light of the tragic events that took place on August 4th, Art on 56th will once again open its doors to welcome creativity, passion and above all, healing. Art is a first draft of history and the voice of humanity. It nurtures truth, spirit, and hope, uniting communities, transcending boundaries and spreading powerful energy.
In this collective exhibition commemorating the reconstruction and reopening of our gallery, we would like to assert our determination in reinvigorating the cultural scene and inspiring an all around opportunity for recovery and revival.
Each room will trigger a unique sensory experience: from the harmonious melodies of Bach that accompany the paintings of Mahmoud Hamadani, to the sounds of chirping birds alongside the sculptures of Semaan Khawam, and the kaleidoscopic visual range of canvases by Edgard Mazigi. We will also be showcasing terrific, powerful and expressive works by Naim Doumit, Ahmed Al Bahrani, Georges Bassil, Zouhair Dabbagh, Rafik Majzoub, Louna Maalouf, Bettina Khoury Badr, Zeina Kamareddine Badran, Dyala Khodary, Quentin Derouet, Tarek Butayhi, Ghaylan Safadi, Wissam Beydoun, Wissam Melhem, Alaa Abou Shaheen, Flavio Aguilera, and Sara Chaar. On display, there will also be some of the art that was damaged during the blast of August 4th, as a reminder that after destruction always comes creation. This is our Rebirth, and we would like to share it with you.
