Georges Bassil (b.1965, Beirut, Lebanon) is a self-taught artist who began his career in 1995. As an autodidact, he draws inspiration from his emotions and personal experiences. His works primarily depict human figures, with a particular focus on the female form and the emotions conveyed through facial expression and presence.
Through transparency and delicate applications of pigment, Bassil engages in a dialogue with the human soul, expressing transience and connection with the other. In an increasingly zealous world, he recreates his visions on warm fabrics, portraying figures that exist without judgment—indifferent to the scrutiny of viewers and immersed in their own thoughts and emotions.
Bassil has participated in numerous solo and collective exhibitions across the Middle East and internationally, including in Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt, Bahrain, the UAE, France, the UK, and Russia.
