Ghada Jamal showcases her latest project “From Heartland to Homeland”, a fascinating journey through different series, in a solo show at Art on 56th.
In her latest solo show “ From Heartland to Homeland” at Art on 56th Gallery, Ghada Jamal explores themes of euphoria, shared perspectives and restlessness as she uses her process to journey through her homeland.
Ghada Jamal is an internationally-renowned Lebanese artist with a passion for her homeland. Her landscapes and cityscapes have been the subject of her numerous works, and she returns to these subjects with a new take.
In ‘Euphoria’, she explores the relationship between color and emotions, often distorting the boundaries between different values. Another series ‘Shared Perspectives’ focuses on the perception of common or familiar spaces, altering the mood by controlling the color hues, as nostalgia emerges. And finally, ‘Restlessness’ offers a contradiction between light and dark, situated as an interlude between the first two series.
“As an artist, I am humbled by profound constraints that coexist with boundless possibilities. Early in life, I was captivated by the beauty of my homeland, never detached from the tragedies and joys of those who share this space,” the artist shares. “In this show, I remained faithful to the power of color as both enchanter and collaborator with imagination. These paintings represent three interconnected journeys, intertwining with our abstract lives and emotions, before color eventually leaves the canvas.”
“Heartland to Homeland” is an art exhibition that brings to the fore a passionate return to the subject of the Lebanese landscape and cityscape. The artist showcases her skill alongside her creative pulses, in three series that captivate the viewer.
