SHARED GROUNDS, Collective exhibition

Curatorial Text

In times of uncertainty, what sustains us is often the ground we share: our collective memories, experiences, aspirations, and capacity to endure.

SHARED GROUND brings together thirteen contemporary artists whose diverse practices reflect on themes of identity, belonging, landscape, memory, and human connection. While each artist approaches these subjects through a distinct visual language, the exhibition reveals common threads that unite individual perspectives within a broader collective experience.

Rather than focusing on division, the exhibition considers the spaces where connections emerge. The works gathered here speak to resilience not only as a response to challenge, but as a continued commitment to creation, imagination, and hope.

Through painting, drawing, sculpture and mixed-media practices, the participating artists invite viewers to reflect on what connects us across different experiences and viewpoints. Together, their works propose a shared space for dialogue, understanding, and renewed possibility.

As Art on 56th Gallery’s annual summer exhibition, SHARED GROUND celebrates the enduring role of art as a meeting place—one where conversations begin, perspectives intersect, and common ground can be rediscovered.
